Design of a new forestry biomass cutting system for Talleres Ramón Castro
Goals: to design a new cutting system as an alternative to the chainsaw cutting system used up until now, which required sharpening every two hours, with the resulting economic cost and reduction in hours the machine was working.
Talleres Ramón Castro had identified some deficiencies in their chainsaw cutting system. Following their specifications, a new biomass cutting system based on shearing was developed, the design of which has been patented. The first prototype has already made 20,000 cuts without maintenance of any kind, which supposes a notable increase in overall system efficiency and a reduction in operating costs.
